Technique du raku par Terra L’aura (Laure Cazeaux)

1/ Utilisation pour le façonnage, une terre dite "à raku" ou alors une terre très chamottée.
2/ Suite au séchage de la pièce, première cuisson (= le biscuit).
3/ Emaillage de la pièce avec un émail pour raku.
4/ Cuisson raku: four à gaz et montée en température rapide afin d'atteindre 950/960° pour que l'émail fonde. A cette température (contrôlée par la sonde), on interrompt la cuisson et on ouvre le four qui nous offre les pièces incandescentes.
5/ La phase finale : les pièces sont saisies à la pince (prendre les précautions nécessaires) et mises dans des seaux remplis de sciure de bois (c'est en tout cas le choix le plus utilisé mais d'autres utilisent du papier journal, du foin, etc.). Souvent cela s'enflamme. C'est assez spectaculaire, et on referme le tout avec un couvercle. Le processus de l'enfumage s'enclenche.

Résultat: 
Email qui en sortant du four se contracte et se fend + enfumage = incrustation et donc révélation des craquelures.

The key ring or bag jewellery is made from a Raku piece, an edelweiss flower form with light pink and yellow enamel. I added one round bead 10 mm in heated citrine, two round beads 6 mm and 4 mm in natural citrine, three roundels 6x4 mm in muscovite, and fuss in stainless steel. The ring is in silvered metal.

Pendant: 4.52 In.
Raku: 40x40 mm.
Beads: 10 mm / 6 mm / 4 mm / 6x4 mm.

Raku technic by Terra L’aura (Laure Cazeaux)

1/ Use for the shaping, a clay told "for raku".
2/ After the drying of the piece, first firing (= the biscuit).
3/ Enameling of the piece with an enamel for raku.
4/ Firing raku: gas kiln and rise in quick temperature to reach 1742/1760°F (950/960°C) to let the enamel melt. At this temperature (contrôled by the sonde), the firing is stopped and the kiln is opened to give the glowing pieces.
5/ The final phase : the pieces are taken with the tongs (pliers) (take the necessary precautions) and put in buckets full of wood sawdust (the most used choice but other use newspaper, hay, etc.). It often ignites. It is spectacular, and we close the buckets with lids . The smoke-filled process engages.

Result: 
The enamel taken of the kiln contracts and cracks + smoke-filled process = scales and so revelation of cracks.
